HydraSync FX copies trades from a MetaTrader 4 account to your other accounts automatically: to another MT4, to MT5, or to cTrader, TradeLocker, DXtrade and MatchTrader. It works the other way too, with MT4 as the destination. One Expert Advisor in your terminal makes the connection; the rules (lot size, filters, limits) are set on the web.
MT4 connects through the HydraSync Expert Advisor, a single EA file attached to one chart in your terminal. Your terminal places the orders itself, so the broker does not need to allow any API access. The same EA works as a source, a destination or both: its role comes from the copy links you create on the web, not from a setting in the EA.
Because the EA runs inside the terminal, the terminal must stay open, on your computer or on a Windows VPS, for trades to be sent or received.
Without the EA (beta): an MT4 account that only receives copies can instead be connected through your own MetaApi account. Nothing to install, and your computer can be off. See Platforms.
Each copy link has its own lot mode: exact, fixed lot, multiplier, proportional to balance, risk % or fixed risk amount per trade, or risk multiplier. On top of that: minimum and maximum lot, per-symbol caps, symbol and magic-number filters, reverse copying, entry guards (maximum signal delay, maximum price gap), drawdown limits, a news filter and a kill switch. See Copy settings and Risk and protection.

With the EA, only if you want copying to continue while your computer is off: the EA must be running for an MT4 account to send or receive trades. An account that only receives copies can skip both the EA and the VPS by connecting through MetaApi (beta).
Under a second in normal conditions. The EA checks for new trades several times per second, so part of that time is the terminal itself.
Yes. A source can feed as many destinations as you link, each with its own settings.
